Mentoring explained…

  • Mentoring is a one-to-one partnership between a more experienced person (the mentor), and someone who is less experienced (the mentee)

  • Involvement in the mentoring programme has the potential to impact upon the mentees immediate and longer term professional development

  • The Events Connect Mentoring programme offers mentees informal career guidance, based on a mentor’s experience in the industry

  • Mentors can support the mentees in expanding thier events industry network

  • Mentors may offer advice regarding the personal and professional skills needed in industry

Mentor

One of the highlights of my year has been being part of the The Manchester Metropolitan University event management mentor scheme...this scheme gave us the chance to meet, nurture and hopefully steer an amazing cohort of students as they embark on their career...The focus and determination of these students is incredible so if you get an application from an MMU student give them 30 minutes of your time.  We will continue to be part of this great programme and hope to give talented students their first step on the ladder in the coming years.
